In order to show repect for the victims of the Sichuan earthquake, the State Council decides that May 19-21 will be three days of national mourning. Flags are to be kept at half-mast and all public amusements will be suspended. China’s diplomatic missions abroad are alse to observe the order, and condolence books are to be opened in the Foreign Ministry and Chinese embassies and consulates around the world. The public must stand in silence for three minutes from 2:28 PM on Monday, while automobiles, trains and ships should sound their air sirens.
